With a new year ahead of us, one can’t help but wonder what this year will bring. Will it be prosperous, enlightening, will we have good hair? Though we can’t tell the future, we can make some educated predictions based on this year’s trends. The last thing any of us wants is to, as Fergie put it, be “2000 and late”, so without further ado, here are my hair trend predictions for 2019.

The last few seasons have been all about ash blondes, and though I don’t think those will be going away anytime soon, I foresee warmer tones being popular this coming Spring and Summer.

With the overwhelming popularity of beach waves in 2018, the crimp is bound to make a comeback. If the 90s-esque crimping iron look doesn’t suit you, try putting your hair into several three-strand braids and pressing them with a flat iron to achieve a more organic, looser crimped look.

Gen Z has proved that in fashion these days, more is more. Mainstream designers have followed suit, and the same seems to be true for hair accessories. So, don’t be afraid to break out the fun clips and scrunchies this year, you might be surprised at how much they can add to an outfit.

This trend has been on the cusp of the mainstream for the past few years, but I predict that 2019 will be the year of the blunt bob. Especially in high fashion, this look, almost cut to look like it was done haphazardly in someone’s bathroom, has been a hit. If you’re looking for something drastic, this may be it.
