Good Things Come In Threes
I remember going to the salon when I was in high school, and being in awe of the blowout that my stylist gave me; my hair had never looked that good before. I was the type of girl to wash and air dry my hair with no product in it, and was convinced that putting any product at all in my fine hair would weigh it down and make it greasy. Looking back, I wish someone had told me that product was the solution to my flat, lifeless ‘do, and the key to achieving that awe-inspiring blowout I received in the salon.
Of course, everyone’s hair is different, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that good things come in threes, and hair product is no exception. I’ve outlined a few common scenarios and the “holy trinity” of Bumble and Bumble products that can solve them for you.
Must Have Bumble And Bumble Products For Your Hair Type
Hair Type: Straight, Fine
Adjectives: Flat, limp, lifeless
Holy Trinity: Bb Prep, All-Style, Dryspun
How to use them: This trio is pretty easy to use; after washing and towel drying, use Bb Prep to detangle. This product will never weigh your hair down, so don’t be afraid to use a healthy amount. Next, squeeze a quarter-sized amount of All-Style into your palm, and distribute it evenly through your hair from roots to ends. Blow dry, and finish up by lifting your hair and spraying the roots with some Dryspun to lock in some volume; but be careful not to use too much, and to hold it the appropriate distance from your scalp to guarantee even distribution.
Hair Types: Curly
Adjectives: Dry, frizzy, dull
Holy Trinity: Bb Curl Primer, Curl Defining Cream, Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil
How to use them: After washing and towel drying, use a liberal amount of Curl primer to detangle and add moisture. Next, depending on how thick your hair is, squeeze anywhere from a dime-sized to a quarter-sized amount of Curl Defining Cream into you palm (a little goes a long way), and add to that two or three pumps of Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil. Rub the two together in your hands to create a cocktail of moisture that will last all day; use this to scrunch your curls, and diffuse or air dry.
Hair Type: Wavy/Coarse
Adjectives: Wiry, frizzy, dry
Holy Trinity: Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer, Straight Blow Dry, Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil
How to use them: Use a liberal amount of the HIO Primer, roots to ends, on towel dried hair, and comb through. This will soften and provide heat protection for the blow dry to come. Next, squeeze a quarter-sized amount of Straight Blow Dry in your palm, and add two pumps of the Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil. Rub this mixture between your palms and distribute evenly through your hair, starting on the ends. Comb through once more, then blow dry with your favorite flat or round brush for silky smooth locks.
Hair Type: Color Treated/Damaged
Adjectives: Dry, rough, unmanageable
Holy Trinity: Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer, Repair Blow Dry, Save The Day
How to use them: You know you shouldn’t be putting heat on your already damaged hair, but sometimes it’s unavoidable, so use that HIO primer on your towel dried hair, roots to ends, to protect from heat styling. Comb through, and then squeeze a quarter-sized amount of Repair blow dry into your palm. Add to this five or six pumps of Save The Day, and mix the products in your palms. Work the mixture into your hair, focusing it on the parts that are most prone to breakage. Blow dry and enjoy!
