No More Plain Jane

For a lot of us, it seems like a magic trick when we see people do elaborate braided styles on themselves. However, if you’re dexterous enough to do a plain Jane three-strand braid, there are plenty of different styles you can create!

Up Your Braids With These Styles

Braided Headband

This look is great for almost any length of hair and is super quick and easy to do! Simply take a small section of hair from each side of your head, right above each ear. Using these, create two braids, and use an elastic to secure each. Then, cross each braid over one another, creating the headband. Use bobby pins to secure the braids to their respective sides, and voila!

Braid Bun

This one works best with hair that is long enough to be pulled into a high ponytail. That being said, pull your hair into a high ponytail, using a brush to smooth any bumps. Secure this tightly, and create one big braid, securing with an elastic on the end. Wrap the braid into a bun around the base of the ponytail, and use hair pins to secure in place.

Braid Pony

To spice up the classic ponytail, using a braid is easy and effective. After putting your hair in a regular ponytail, take a small section from the base and create a braid. Wrap this around the elastic that’s holding the ponytail, and secure with a bobby pin back at the base.

Boho Braid Pigtails

If you’re wishing you were at a festival, you can carry the spirit with you through boho braided pigtails. Separate your hair into two sections, straight down the middle of your scalp. Create a braid on either side and secure with elastics, leaving a little extra between the braid and the elastic. Then, gently pull on either side of each braid to create a more undone look.

Final Thoughts

So, even if you’re not a master stylist, there are still ways to use even the most basic of braids to create styles and change up your look. Good luck, and happy braiding!
