Dear Clients,

Hey, it’s me. Your beloved stylist, to whom you disclose a good amount of personal information, and trust with your hair appointment after appointment. I was just writing because there a few things that I wanted to tell you that I thought might come across more clearly in letter form. So, with that said, here are some of the things I’d like you to remember when you sit in my chair.

Firstly, let’s talk about your hair; you love it and I love doing it, but I want to make sure that your hair loves us back. That’s why, when I gently suggest that we take a break from bleaching for a bit, or gently suggest that you buy that Bumble and Bumble masque that I was talking about, it kind of bums me out when you disagree. I’m just trying to keep the relationship between your hair and I healthy and stable. After all, isn’t that the kind of relationship every woman wants?

But listen, I know that normally we do agree, which is why we’re so tight. I wanted to tell you that I think it’s so cool that you like to change up your hair every now and then; variety is the spice of life, so they say. My favorite thing to do is collaborate with you to come up with a vision for your hair, and then do my best to execute it. I promise to always be realistic with you about what is possible for your hair, and to make you feel beautiful at every stage of the process, so long as you promise to be understanding that while I am a darn good stylist, I am not a magician; deal?

Lastly, I just wanted to thank you for letting me ramble on about whatever is happening in my life. It’s cool that I have a job that lets me be myself, and that’s all thanks to you! I love hearing about your life, too. It makes me feel like I’m not at work, but catching up with my friend that I haven’t seen in four to six weeks; it’s a pretty sweet gig. You allow me to do what I love every day, and for that I am eternally grateful.

See you at your next appointment!

Love always,

Your Hairstylist

P.S. If you try to cut your own bangs, I will know, even if I don’t bring it up. xoxo
