Minor Setback To Major Comeback

I am lucky enough to work very closely with Bumble and Bumble – behind the chair and as a part of their network. But aside from that, I am a huge fan of their products! When I was told that they would be re-launching their Thickening line, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the new products. As someone with fine hair, products like Thickening Spray and Dryspun are life savers, but the Thickening line did have it’s weaknesses; namely, the shampoo and conditioner.

I was hesitant to use the line’s shampoo and conditioner because, as someone with fine, color treated hair, I found that it made my hair dry and unmanageable. So when I heard they were reformulating, I was beyond excited.

Thickening Shampoo

Let’s start with the shampoo, as it’s formula stayed the same.

Thickening Shampoo is highly cleansing, and provides a great lather. My experience with this shampoo is nothing out of the ordinary, but it is to be noted that while I am usually a fan of mixing and matching, this shampoo is the perfect prelude to its companion – the real star of the show.

Thickening Conditioner

The old Thickening Conditioner had an ingredient called silk powder, which coated the hair to provide fullness, but was targeted at those who were seeking grit in their hair, and often left hair feeling a bit like straw, especially if it was chemically damaged in any way.

After using the new formula, I am blown away at the difference. The ingredient that has replaced the silk powder is called Emblica, and is a derivative of Indian gooseberry. This allows for significantly more slip to the hair, which is, in my opinion, what the old formula was lacking.

Final Thoughts

Upon styling my hair after using the shampoo and conditioner, I noticed that it blow dried to be soft, touchable and full. I had no idea what I was missing out on before, but I assure you that thickening will be a permanent resident in my shower from here on out.

My recommendation? If you want to turn up the volume of your hair without compromising touch-ability, the new Thickening shampoo and conditioner are the way to go.
