2020 Hair Trends That We Loved

Hello and Happy New Year, my Bauman Beauties!

The year 2020 was a dumpster fire of a year for a litany of reasons, and I know many of us are relieved to put it behind us! But do you know what I don’t want to forget? The rad hair trends from the last year! So many old styles came back and better than before! If you’re looking to go into 2021 with a new look, here are some ideas to fan your flames of change.

The Rachel

I’m assuming that after many many Friends watch parties over zoom, we had no choice but to bring back the Rachel. Over the last month, I’ve been cutting a lot of volume inducing round layers and bold face frames! This bouncy It Girl style is totally back from the dead. Just remember to sprits some Thickening Spray for volume and hold!

In the words of Rachel herself, “Does this look like something the girlfriend of a paleontologist would wear?”

Color blocks

I’m purposefully leaving chunky highlights off this list because I have a personal vendetta against them. However, playing off of that technique, I did warm up to the idea of blocked color placements! If you’re looking to make a bold statement this year, browse through some photos of blocked color. Think Narcissa Malfoy from Harry Potter or the D’Amelio sisters on Tik Tok! Bleach out a section of hair on the side or maybe just half a bang? You can do it wherever you want. Make it yours! Tone it a shade that coordinates well with the rest of your hair color, or leave it blonde, or get crazy and whip out the Pulp Riot!

Mullet Mania

You all know that I had to save the best for last!

If you think Carole Baskin killed her husband, it couldn’t hurt to try a new cut? Back in March, Tiger King on Netflix blew up! And who would’ve known a docu-series on tiger breeding could spark an entire mullet revolution! Everywhere I looked, there was a fashion-forward, spunky kid rocking a mullet. You guys might be cringing at me but, some people know how to wear this style well with the right piercings and ripped jeans! Just pinch some Sumo Wax into those layers to accentuate your texture, and BAM, this cut will look so rock n roll on you!
